硬核朋克No use for a name 1987年组建于加拿大的Sunny dale,最初由Tony Sly（主唱/吉他）Chris Dodge（吉他）Steve Papoutsis（贝司）和Rory Koff（鼓）组成。1987年晚些时候就进行了首张专辑Turn it around的演出，并由最大的滚石杂志以7”盘的形式进行宣传。NUFAN1989年以单曲Let’em out再次登场，第二年发行了未删节的演出现场 “Incognito”。在1991年出版了专辑“Don’t miss the train”后，乐队和FAT唱片公司签约，并在1993年出版了专辑“The daily grind”。成员的变迁一直困扰着NUFAN，5年以后乐队的原始成员只剩下了Sly和Koff。在1994年发行了专辑“Leche con carne”后，乐队在相当一段时间内非常低调，直到三年后才发行了专辑“Making friends”，专辑的录制有了新吉他手Chris Shiflett和贝司手Matt Riddle的参加。在录制完成了1999年的“More Betterness”后不久，Shiflett退出了NUFAN加入了Foo Fighters，他的位置被原Suicidal Tondencies的吉他手Dave Nassie顶替。2000年发行了“The NRA years”，接下来他们开展了巡演，并在几个月后发行了巡演的现场。乐队于2001年底重新回到了录音棚并于2003年发行了“Hard rock bottom”。
